The Quincy Public
Schools Special Education Department provides services
to approximately 1500 students on Independent Education Programs
(IEPs), 504 Plans, and Individual Curriculum
Accommodation Plans (ICAPs).
For
additional information on special education programs in the Quincy
Public Schools visit their webpage. Quincy
Public Schools has implemented the Instant Alert program from
Honeywell. This program allows a single message to be delivered to all
parents via the parents' communication method of choice. Messages about emergency situations, school activities, and other important information
can be sent to home, work, or cell phones, e-mail, pagers, and/or PDAs.
This program is currently available for all Quincy elementary schools
and will soon be available for middle and high schools.
Parents can visit the Honeywell website to update contact information, as well as choose their preferred method(s) of communication and level of messaging.
| Special
Education "Chain of Command" |
If
you have a question or concern about your child's IEP, contact your
child's teacher first. Questions/concerns not resolved with the teacher
should then be addressed with the Team Chairperson or school Principal.
Problems that have not be rectified at this level may then be addressed
with the Team Administrator (see below for school assignments and
contact information), followed by the Director of Special Education and
the Superintendent.
Problems
that cannot be resolved locally may be addressed with either the
Massachusetts Department of Education's Program
Quality Assurance or Bureau
of Special Education Appeals. For more information about
their services, please visit their websites.
